Highlights

This week on Wednesday till Thursday the company I work at hosted a Hackathon. For two days all the techy people gathered somewhere and worked on projects. The theme for the back-enders was AI Agents, but the Front-enders worked on some different assignments.

My team worked on a "Gamified Lead Magnet". Which in our case was a simple puzzle game that could be used on landing pages to increase time spent on the page. In this case you would have a progress bar and after placing three puzzle pieces the user could get a discount or something similar. The image of the puzzle is dynamic and can then be used in several verticals.

It was a pretty fun experience. We decided to use a library called Headbreaker to generate and place the puzzle pieces. It's a pretty extensive library but sadly the documentation was very minimal. We spent most of our time trying to figure that out. The main issue was probably the face that it uses a canvas to generate and move the pieces which limited control a lot. The POC we made was still something to be proud of though.

On Friday we had a pretty slow day so I decided to try and remake the puzzle game, but instead writing the logic myself for the pieces. Within 8 hours I had a pretty good puzzle going already which was pretty fun to work on. It already has the possibility to generate multiple pieces such a 4, 9 or 16 and I used the rects of the objects to add some snapping. Cool.

Consumed

  • The Last Of Us (HBO series) : Episode 6. This one was an emotional one. Pretty much the entire episode was a flashback which was really good. I love Bella's and Pedro's acting.

  • Lilo and Stitch - Live action remake: Well... Unsurprisingly a let down. In the trailer I thought Stitch was pretty funny but the movie kind of sucked. They changed and left out a bunch of stuff which was kind of weird. (2/5)

  • Hawkeye: Started rewatching this for some reason.

  • Clair Obscur - Expedition 33: Still playing!
