Weeknotes #25

August 15, 2025

Highlights

Last week on Saturday I went to Amsterdam with a friend, which was quite enjoyable, diverting a bit from the usual route we walk, which led to us discovering some new stuff like pretty streets and a bakery that sells croissant-cookies (which were delicious, by the way). I went there with the goal of buying new clothes, but instead I returned with new shoes and a couple of Pop figures (Elphaba to match the Glinda I already owned, Wednesday, and Enid).

On Sunday I mostly had a chill day but did go to the "kermis" nearby for a little while. But left early since I was dealing with a headache.

The rest of the week was mainly focused on work since we're working on a project which needs to be finished ASAP. Though, on Thursday, the company I work at celebrated some revenue milestone by bringing in a food truck for lunch which was delicious. (And interesting that we reached such a milestone, while from my perspective I feel like the company has been struggling... firing a whole bunch of people and what not... but hey, free food.)

Tonight (Friday) I'm going to the kermis again with my colleagues and then with my friends to watch the fireworks. The annual fireworks are one of my favourite events in the area so I'm excited.

Song of the week

Found this one on Tiktok and thought the melody was interesting.

Consumed

  • The Naked Gun: So, I did enjoy this movie, but the cinema we were at had reclining seats and we had been walking around Amsterdam for a couple of hours before, so I think I may have been too sleepy to properly laugh at how ridiculous this movie was. (2.5/5)

  • Outlander - Blood Of My Blood: I've been following the original Outlander show for a couple years now, and just found out they've made a spin-off. I only watched the first episode for now, but it's pretty good. I think I'll miss Claire, but the main character, Ellen Mackenzie, is pretty likeable.

  • The Hunting Wives: I saw people talk about this one on social media and it interested me since the main character is played by Brittany Snow, who also played in Pitch Perfect. I watched the first episode and... it's interesting? A bit weird maybe, and VERY American. I'm not sure if I'll continue watching.
